The Story of Zenpukuji Temple

Located in a corner of central Tokyo, Zenpukuji is home to abundant nature and 1,000 years of history.

Atelier resfeber has set up a small studio in this area, where the Igusa Hachiman Shrine, where Minamoto no Yoritomo offered his prayers, and the protected natural environment have fostered tranquility and warmth.

In this place where rich nature, history, and creativity intersect, we will weave new stories together with our visitors.

    A place called "Zenpukuji"

In a corner of central Tokyo, there is a place where time flows quietly. Located between Nishi-Ogikubo, Kichijoji, and Kamishakujii, is the area around Zenpukuji Park. Because it has remained largely untouched since ancient times, the area has preserved its rich vegetation and continues to thrive to this day.

Ancient prayers and hopes that have been woven for a thousand years

This land was formed 1,000 years ago during the Kamakura period. It is said that the name originates from when Minamoto no Yoritomo shot a bow to create a well to pray for the defeat of the Taira clan and to replenish his water supply.

This tranquil forest is home to such abundant nature that it's hard to believe it's located within Tokyo's 23 wards, and its appearance changes with the seasons. In this forest, which has continued to receive the prayers and hopes of ancient people over time, wild birds chirp and endemic plants quietly continue to live. Even today, it continues to provide peace of mind to those who visit.

A warm memory of light where nature and art intersect

In the past, this area was lined with over 50 shops, making it a bustling hub of people's lives. However, over the years, the area has changed, and now only a handful remain. Nevertheless, the culture and community that live here continue to thrive quietly.

The Trolls in the Park Festival, an outdoor art festival held every autumn at Zenpukuji Park, is a small celebration that represents the gentle joy and creativity that has quietly etched its long history into this place, and is still cherished and passed down as a warm, shining memory.

Atelier resfeber aims to circulate inspiration

At atelier resfeber, we hope to use the Zenpukuji area as a stage to create a small space where nature and art resonate with each other and creativity intertwines.

Based on the belief that "everyone is an artist and has the right to live life independently and in their own way," we aim to create a special place where people who share the joy of expression can gather and share their heartfelt feelings. A cycle of new inspiration is born from the interaction between people who understand and feel this rich joy. This is the image of the "atelier" we aim to create, deeply rooted in the land of Zenpukuji.

    Weaving and delivering stories

Atelier resfeber offers an opportunity to exhibit works and foster heartfelt exchanges in a special space where nature, art, and the warmth of the local community intersect.

Whether it's something inspired by nature, an idea that brightens people's daily lives, or a piece that embodies a casual emotion, we hope that your creativity will blend into the atmosphere of this place and weave a story unique to Zenpukuji.

Zenpukuji is the place to take your first step. From here, small beginnings will expand.
